Five Tasks, One Hour

For Effective Book Marketing

Book Marketing Can Be Simple

How are you marketing your book today?
Don’t worry about what you’ll do next week…
And especially don’t worry about whether your marketing is going to work…
Just decide to do something!
Well, not just anything…
Do something that adheres to solid marketing principles.
Sometimes that last bit seems complicated, so let me simplify it.

Focus on Traffic, Content, and Contacts

Here are the 5 things you can do every day to get more readers:
  1. Decide on 1 way to reach at least 20 new potential readers today and do it. This can be following people on Instagram, using hashtags, running a social media ad, or private messaging people (be careful with this last one – make sure that you’re GIVING something to them that they want and not just asking them to do something for you).
  2. Write 1 post per day for social media that you cross-post to at least 4 different social media platforms. How? Simple. Create the post and then put the same post on all of the platforms. Some authors ask me, “what if people see it in multiple places? Won’t I be irritating them?” No, you won’t. Seriously. You won’t. Just do it.
  3. Seek out 1 public relations opportunity as a guest blogger or as a guest on a radio interview, podcast, television program, or newspaper article. How? Find the email address for 1 of these folks and write to them. Then do something almost unheard of in today’s world – call them. Yes, call them on the telephone.
  4. Plan 1 set of emails that you are going to launch now or in the near future. Write 1 email for this set (this set of email is also called an email ‘funnel’ or sales ‘funnel’).
  5. Every 3 days that you post, ask people to DO something. There are basically 2 choices here. Ask them to opt-in for a freebie or ask them to buy your book.

Now Do…

There you have it.
If you do this, you WILL sell more books.
This should only take you about an hour to do.
One hour per day.
That’s all it takes to build momentum…to get more readers…to get your book into the hands of people who NEED IT and WANT IT.
Now go get busy.
